🐠 Web Hooks Setup Guide

Web Hooks (aka Protocol Handlers) are mini-APIs that can launch applications directly from web links. Instead of manually opening programs and typing IP addresses, you can click a link and connect seamlessly to any device.

For example:

  • Click 🛜 → Windows pings the device
  • Click 🛡️ → PuTTY opens an SSH session
  • Click 🔁 → FileZilla connects via SFTP

This one-click capability is a huge time saver and a much better user experience.

⚠️ To create custom Web Hooks, you must have the permission and the skills to edit your Windows Registry file.

⚙️ Installing the Web Hooks

Download the Web Hooks you want to install below, then:

  • As needed, modify the .reg file(s) to match your PuTTY and FileZilla installation directories
  • Double-click the .reg file
  • Click "Yes" when Windows asks if you want to add it to the registry
  • Click "OK" on the confirmation message(s)
  • ⚠️ If you get a security error, Press Win + R, type regedit, and click File-Import to add each .reg file directly to the Registry.

🕵️‍♂️ Testing the Web Hooks

After updating the registry file(s), you can test the web hooks by navigating to 🚀 Quick Launch and entering the IP address for one of your devices.
